Extensive Government Access

First Work coordinates government relations work across the province and across sectors. Strategic members are invited to contribute to First Work’s government relations decision-making and hear from our representatives on any number of initiatives.

Here is just a partial list of the government committees, departments, ministries and relationships agencies can have access to through their membership in First Work:

  • Ontario Ministry of Training Colleges and Universities, Employment Ontario and Summer Job Services programs
  • Federal Service Canada, Skills Link and Youth Awareness Programs
  • Ontario Ministry of Education Learning to 18 initiative and other initiatives
  • Ontario Ministry of Children and Youth Services Summer Jobs for Youth Program
  • Ontario Ministry of Economic Development and Trade
  • Ontario Ministry of Labour and the Workers Safety and Insurance Board
  • Ontario Ministry of Community and Social Services Youth Opportunities Strategy
  • Ontario Ministry of Health Promotion
  • Federal Human Resources Social Development Canada
  • OntarioYouth Matter Coalition
  • Ontario Nonprofit Network, and more
Through our province-wide network and connections with Federal and Provincial departments and ministries, First Work members are able to improve their local efforts and gain influence on a wider scale.

We get questions about membership all the time, so we’ve made becoming a member easy. If your organization is not yet a part of First Work, simply download the New Member form from our membership page or speak with Bunny Godman at 416 323 9557 x230 or bgodman@firstwork.org.

Thank you for your continued interest in First Work as we aim to improve youth employment in Ontario and Canada. Together we can build a better future for our youth.

“Our membership in First Work has provided an opportunity to attend an international youth employment symposium and to bolster our deputations to federal departments regarding national youth employment policy.”
