Evidence, First Work’s evaluation and research unit, is always on the lookout for ways to help First Work members better serve their clients. One of the ways we do this is to identify or develop tools that support your work.

Over the past months, Evidence has undertaken a review of several such tools. These have included:

This training program will provide managers with the key skills required to build organizational capacity in job placement and to develop staff skills and motivation. First Work will be running two 2-day training sessions in London and Toronto, and registration is online.

New and veteran employment service managers will learn to plan for, measure and support job developers and job development efforts. Learn how to be both proactive and reactive in selling to employers and in planning initiatives for immediate action and future growth.

National Youth Employment Dialogues

The National Youth Employment Dialogues initiative brings together youth employment counselling organizations and professionals across Canada to share their knowledge of how youth are affected by the challenging economy and to best address these challenges. The project is uncovering innovations and best practices from across the country for sharing and adaptation. Youth looking for work have been consulted on how their career planning is impacted by the economy, their support needs, and their job search challenges. Through focus groups, surveys, online discussions and conference workshops, the project has created a national network.
